Our mission

Our mission and objective has always remained the same; to better understand the training standards and needs of our industry, to exchange best practice values relating to training practices and programmes and to provide educational support to ensure that our industry workers remain skilled and empowered to continue their careers.

The core strength of EuroTra is that many members are leading training providers in their own country, and when this is combined with extensive knowledge and understanding of international transport markets it leads to a comprehensive view of the effects of legislation, driver shortages and skills in our industry.

Our strength of unity has become the cornerstone of our Association.

Our commitment

During an event organised by the Belgian Road Safety Institute in presence of the Belgian Secretary of State, competent for Mobility and Transport, Mr Machenil, as the then-President of EuroTra, signed the European Road Safety Charter renewing EuroTra's Commitment for another 3 years period until November 2013.

EuroTra's commitment herein is formulated as follows:

We will continue to produce recommendations for all our members on how to successfully harmonise the new EU Regulations (Directive 2003/59/EC) on training of professional drivers in the Transport Sector.

We will continue to organise every quarter expert forum during which best practises are exchanged in the area of road safety related training programmes. The target groups can differ each time, but we are focussing on the experts on account of the topic that is under discussion. The Expert Forums will be free of charge for the participants. The results will be published in a report, and occasionally additional activities may be initiated e.g. study visits, development of training programmes.

We will continue to organize new innovative learning methods for youngsters, focused on Road Safety, which will higher the level of qualification of young professional drivers. This action will be part of a more general plan to persuade youngsters to become truck drivers. In doing so, we believe we will contribute to enhancing road safety while attracting more youngsters to the transport branch.
