EuroTra Winter Assembly in London.

12/14/11 4:21 PM

EuroTra covered major transport issues at two events held in London recently.

The EuroTra Winter General Assembly, on Thursday 1st December, involved 26 European and Canadian delegates who discussed topics such as driver shortages, retention of drivers and the impact of initial and periodic training in Europe at their winter assembly.

The next day was dedicated to a EuroTra Expert Forum which was based upon urban deliveries. Speakers included Glen Davies of Transport for London on the Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS); Lisa Lavia of the Noise Abatement Society, Natalie Chapman of the Freight Transport Association on night-time deliveries and Dan Evanson of Transport for London on the 2012 Olympics.

EuroTra President James Tillyer presented this year’s Safety and Innovation Award to Peter Larner of Suckling Transport Ltd (based in the U.K). The company is a specialised fuel distributor and the use of driver performance data to identify the specific training requirements of its 150+ drivers, along with specialist training for six in-house trainer/drivers yielded them top prize in this annual international competition.

Both events were held on board the HMS President at Victoria Embankment in the heart of London.
